Broadus, MT to Bozeman, MT
Checking out of the Inn this morning, Dan asked if we needed to finish charging before we headed out. We told him we have enough to get to our next destination. Well, we should have listened to Dan, we barely made it our next charging station in Billings, Mt. Yes, that's 7 miles left on the car!!!
While we were having a drink in Billings waiting for Tessie to charge, we were discussing our trip with the bartender. He referred us to a great Sushi restaurant in Bozeman. Which we tried...checkout below.
Tessie is all charged and a lesson learned by us. Listen to the locals, they know best.
Our destination for the night is Bozeman, MT. We stayed at Marriott chain, "Element", which was new to us. Which our room was worth taking pictures since we have never stayed at an Element. They are designed with a living room, bedroom, full kitchen, bathroom. We had a very nice comfortable stay and NO CARPET....yeah.
We checked out Dave's Sushi that was recommended in Billings. It was a very busy place so our thought is it must be good. Well, it was great, we ordered our drinks, Edamame, Catapillar roll and were stuffed. They even had Sapporo on draft which I had never seen and John had his traditional hot saki.
After dinner we strolled through the town and stopped at a coffee shop for me to get my decaf coffee. It was so good we bought a 1/2lb of regular. The town of Bozeman was named after John M. Bozeman, founder of the Bozeman Trail which was on the northern trail off the Oregon Trail leading to the mining town of Virginia City through the Gallatin Valley and the future location of the city of Bozeman. The trail was closed in 1868 but the town's fertile land attracted permanent settlers. In 1892 the U.S Bureau of Fisheries established a fish hatchery which became the 4th oldest hatchery in the U.S. It ceased as a hatchery in 1966 and became the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service's Bozeman Nat'l Fish Hatchery and later a fish technology & fish health Center. The center receives approx. 5,000 visitors a year. Bozeman is the residence of the Montana State University which was established in 1965. Prior to this date in 1920 it was known as the Montana State College. The filming of two movies where filmed here: A River Runs Through It and The Horse Whisperer.
