Lincoln, NH to Bath, ME

Good Morning...oh feeling much better today.  We woke up to a beautiful morning and am thankful cause our drive today to through the Kancamagus Highway. Before we started our trip we stopped at the Loon Mtn Ski Area to clean our windshield for our scenic drive.  While Johnny cleaned the windows I took video and pictures of this area.

We started our drive through the White Mountain Nat'l Forest which is a range of mountainous hardwood forest, majestic alpine peaks, clear streams and falls. The highway is a  Scenic Byway from Lincoln, NH to Conway, NH.  This was a beautiful drive, we stopped at several view points to take in the scenery.   There are signs to for "Moose" but, we didn't see any.

We also found the Sabbaday Falls and hiked the .3 miles to the top.  This trip was so rewarding after our trip the day before.

After our drive through the White Mountain Forest we entered into Maine.  Having to stop in Freeport, ME to charge Tessies, we also decided to get a bit to eat.  Wanting to get a taste of Maine lobster, we ordered a lobster appetizer and clam chowder and they were both very good.  Sorry no foodie pictures.

We moved onto our destination of Bath, ME.  Checked in our room and headed out on the town.
The most notable in Bath is the BIW - Bath Iron Works.  BIW is a major shipyard on the Kennebec River.  The shipyard was incorporate in 1884 and is still a working shipyard.  They build private and commercial Ships.  They mostly build destroyers for the US Navy.

One of many of the building that impressed us happened to be the Patten Free Library.  The original library remains as a reading room and Admin offices.  There are two additions to allow for the enormous amount of books this library carries.  They have a library wing for Children and a Young Adult wing.

We ended our evening with dinner a the Taste of Maine Restaurant.  As we entered the parking lot there is a pole that has an Osprey nesting at the top and the restaurant has a camera perched up there for viewing in the restaurant.  I happen to get a picture of the Osprey leaving it's nest.

Neither of us have had a Maine Lobster.  Feeling brave, I ordered one.  Johnny decided to have the Surf n Turf.  The instructions on how to eat the lobster are on my placemat.  Thank goodness cause  otherwise I would never have figured out how to eat it.
