May 15, 2019 - Wednesday

Oyster Bay, NY

Today we decided to play golf at the Oyster Bay Golf Course.  This was the most confusing golf check in I have ever seen.   First of all, John and I have a system when we check in for golf.  John drops me off at the Pro Shop, I check in, he parks the car, I bring out the cart, he loads the clubs and off we go.  Got it???  OK, When we drove in, there is a BIG Yellow Mansion in front of us, I'm thinking dang I bet they have a pretty cool Pro Shop.  Just before the Mansion is a sign to our left that reads "Pro Shop/Driving Range"(left arrow).  So Johnny drops me off, I go check-in, Johnny is unloading the golf clubs waiting for me to come around with the cart but, instead I come out frustrated.  I told him, they said the check in, is in the yellow building...over there (pointing to the Mansion).  He loaded the clubs into the car and we drove over to the "Mansion", I went in while Johnny waited outside and this time he did not unload the clubs from the car till we were sure this was the "Check-in" building.  Well, it wasn't, it's the LITTLE Yellow building.  Geez, we finally find the building.  I go  "Check-In", and there is a man who confirms my tee time and takes my credit card, he then passed my credit card to the man next to him and tells him how much to charge on the card, the man next to him hands me a cart key and asks for my Drivers License to hold for the key, and gives me course instructions.  Oh my goodness...really...3 man check in process.  WOW!!!! You talk about job security.  Phew.. all checked in, now we wait.  It's cart path only and just in front of us is the Men's Senior Club, (they play every Wednesday).  We were paired up with a couple that plays the course regularly.  Thank goodness cause there are NO markings to the next holes and the layout is confusing.  This is another narrow, tree lined course and played very tough.  We waited on every hole and it was the longest round of golf in my life....5 hours and 35 minutes.  After a long round like this one, all we wanted to do was get out of there.  I returned the cart, and just about left without my Drivers License..what a silly system.  They should collect $3.00 key deposit, not take your D/L.  They would make more money for those 3 men who work so hard...HA HA HA

After golf we went to a local restaurant 'Walls Wharf", we sat outside, it was a very nice evening.  We had cocktails and  ate Sushi and enjoyed the beachy scenery.
