April 15, 2019 - Monday
Bryce Canyon, Ut to Torrey, Ut

Bryce Canyon

After spending the night at Best Western Plus - Ruby's Inn we started our day trip to Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park.  We chose to do the most popular hikes, "Bryce, Inspiration, Sunset and Sunrise Points.  The whole time we where here, we were in AWE.  We couldn't take enough pictures of this beautiful canyon.  Our total hike was about 2.5 miles which was enough at an 8,000 ft elevation.  Bryce Canyon is the home to the largest collection of hoodoos (irregularly-eroded rock spires) in the world.  The canyon is situated along the east edge of a plateau, the park has one main 18 mile north to south road and only one entrance/exit.  It was cloudy during our visit but it did not hinder the beauty of this canyon.

Mossy Cave

Outside the park, it was recommended we visit Mossy Cave.  Mossy Cave is a shelter cave.  Depending on the season you will find large overhang filled with moss. Mossy Cave is a grotto created by an underground spring.  The waterfall was created by Domolite.  Domolite is a special form of limestone that is fortified by magnesium and is harder than regular limestone.  It can't be dissolved by slightly acidic rainwater.

Historic Highway 12

Scenic Byway 12 aka: Highway 12 - "A Journey Through Time Scenic Byway"

We traveled the whole 122 miles of this highway.  Starting West in Panguitch, Ut to Torrey, Ut in the East.  The terrain on this Highway changes so frequently you can't get enough pictures.  So, I had to do some condensing.  The highest point is 9600 ft in elevation and it was cold and windy.  These pictures are from Bryce Canyon to Torrey.

We ended our day in Torrey, Utah at the Broken Spur Inn and Steakhouse.  Cowboy themed and surrounded  with views of the Capitol Reef and various other mountain ranges this place feels like Cowboy/girl country to me.  Yee Haw!!!!  They even rent Stage Coaches for the night.  The window picture is the view from our room.  We chose this place because they have Tesla chargers and trust me it was a good choice.
